MTP / Pediatric Massive Transfusion Protocol

The Pediatric Massive Transfusion Protocol is a handout meant for medical staff to use as a guide for treating pediatric patients entering tachycardia or hemodynamic instability. Drug type and volumes are charted according to blood volume loss. The space at the top is meant for the local number of the blood bank to call for the pediatric massive transfusion pack. The contents of the pack, as used in the hospital it was designed for, are listed.
The recommendation is to laminate the card and fill in the blood bank number and the contact as needed for the situation.
Please feel free to use and modify this handout as you wish. If you are a medical professional interested in adapting these for your institution (changing values, modifying the drug protocols, etc), you are welcome to contact me to see if we can work something out.
